The town is located on the San Francisco Peninsula and has a population of about 7,000 people. It is bordered by Menlo Park, Redwood City, and Woodside. Atherton is known for its large estates and mansions. It is a popular location for the wealthy to live. Many of the homes in Atherton are worth over $10 million.
